Bernd Herzogenrath is the author of An Art of Desire: Reading Paul
Auster (Amsterdam and Atlanta: Rodopi, 1999), and the editor of
From Virgin Land to Disney World. Nature and Its Discontents
in the USA of Yesterday and Today (Amsterdam and New York: Rodopi,
2001). His fields of interest are 19th and 20th century American Literature,
Literary Theory, and Cultural and Media Studies. He has also published
articles on Techno and Emily Bronte, David Lynch's Lost Highway and
Cultural Pathology, Leatherstocking and Freud, Kurt Cobain and
The Great Gatsby, Pynchon and Von Helmholtz, Henry Adams and
Chaos Physics, Heidegger and the Cyborg, etc. Currently, he is teaching
at the University of Cologne and is working on a project on the Image
and Metaphor of the fragmented/multiplicit body in American Literature,
History, Art, and Cinema - suggestions are very welcome.
